Our Heritage

Our Heritage is an Interesting one.

Originally located on Upper Main Street, Valatie, First Presbyterian Church began as the Second Reformed Church of Kinderhook in 1833. Two years later the church became know as the First Presbyterian Church of Valatie.

In 1878, the present edifice on Zion's Hill, Church Street was consecrated.

In January, 1930, the Valatie Methodist Episcopal congregation was invited to join with First Presbyterian and in 1935, the church came under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Albany.

The church building was designed by Edward Ogden, an English architect. In the fall of 1979 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
