SPECIAL OFFERINGS MADE PERFECTLY CLEAR

Ever wonder where those Special Offerings we have go. Here is an explanation.

There are two kinds of special offerings:
(1) those that are dedicated to the ministry and mission of our own congregation; and
(2) those that are designated for special purposes beyond ourselves.

The special offerings for our local ministry and mission are the following:
Initial,
Per Capita,
Fuel,
"Special",
Easter,
Thanksgiving, and
Christmas.

These special offerings may be given using the special, properly named envelopes that are in the offering envelope boxes distributed to most of us at the beginning
of the year.

The special offerings that are designated for special purposes beyond ourselves, and for which special envelopes are distributed at the appropriate time in the Epistle or the pews, are the following:

February: Church World Service Blanket Offering,
Lent : One Great Hour of Sharing for hunger, disaster relief and the self-development of people,
May: Birthday Offering of Presbyterian Women,
May/June: Pentecost Offering for children at risk and youth and young adult ministries,
October: Peacemaking Offering for the support of educational programs locally (25%) and nationally (75%),
November: Thank Offering of Presbyterian Women,
December: Cliristmas Joy Offering for emergency relief for widowed spouses and families of deceased Presbyterian ministers, and in support of Presbyterian related racial/ethnic colleges and schools,
To Be Determined: Ichabod Crane Project of the Columbia County Habitat for Humanity.

All giving is good. All of the special offering opportunities that support the work of our church, locally, nationally, and globally, are worthy ofour support. Individuals and families are encouraged to give as interest, ability', and conscience may provide guidance.
